The Basel Historic Museum’s permanent exhibition programme recalls the various significant episodes which have contributed to the fashioning of the city’s identity, from the Middle Ages to our day.

One of the most potent parts of the visit, taking in the Church of the Cordeliers, one of the four dependancies of the institution, along with the Kirschgarten, Kutschenmuseum and Musikmuseum, remains the discovery of works of religious art dating from before the Reformation, one of the treasures of Basel cathedral.
